Auxiliary Services
The Auxiliary at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway began with
a group of 15 women who sold locally grown roses at the Rahway Train Station
to raise money for a civilian hospital in the city. Today, the Auxiliary
has 60 dues-paying members, some of whom have been involved with the hospital
for more than a quarter century.
The Auxiliary has its own board made up of people from the community who
are dedicated to the hospital. The board is led by Ms. Christine Kline,
who serves as Auxiliary president. The 14 member-executive board discuss
how best to raise money throughout the year to help meet the hospital’s
needs. It provides scholarships to local students pursuing health care
careers and amenities such as Bedside Harp to our patients.
The Auxiliary raises money at the hospital through:
- The Rose Tree Gift Shop
- Patient Television Service
- Fundraising events and sales
- The Shop-on-Wheels
Each year the Auxiliary provides thousands of dollars in college scholarships to local students who are pursuing careers in medicine. The Auxiliary also provides the Bedside Harp Program, a popular program that has volunteer harpists play soothing music for patients, families and staff.
