Advanced Treatment for Neuropathy
RWJ Rahway Rehabilitation Services is pleased to offer a non pharmaceutical approach for peripheral neuropathy, a feeling of burning, numbness, pain or tingling in the hands or feet. Peripheral neuropathy is damage to the nervous system associated with a number of different medical conditions, especially diabetes. Symptoms include numbness and tingling in the feet and hands; sharp, jabbing or burning pain; extreme sensitivity to touch; and lack of coordination or muscle weakness.
Our peripheral neuropathy treatment involves electrical stimulation in targeted areas to help improve blood flow and advance healing of damaged nerves. The electronic impulses stimulate circulation, which in turn increases the flow of healing oxygen to damaged nerves.
RWJBarnabas Health at Rahway uses a non-invasive vascular treatment device to deliver electrical stimulation to damaged nerves and muscles to promote increased blood flow. Combined with our impressive physical therapy programs, we have the tools to help damaged nerves heal and regain functionality.
