Occupational Therapy
This treatment is utilized to increase the individual’s ability to perform the skills necessary to lead an independent and productive life.
Patients of our Occupational Therapy program are generally faced with:
- Physical impairments or disabilities
- Developmental disabilities and delays
- Psychosocial disabilities
Our therapists work with patients to strengthen and mobilize the upper body, improve coordination and increase fine-motor dexterity, educate them in joint protection and energy conservation, and train in the performance of daily living skills.
Patients are trained in the use of compensatory techniques and adaptive equipment to help them increase their independence and safety with daily living and community integration.
Standard testing, objective measurement and clinical observation, in conjunction with client and family input, enable our therapists to develop effective individualized treatment programs.
