Cultural Information and Resources

At RWJBarnabas Health, it is our goal to provide safe, equitable, culturally-sensitive patient-centered care. To fully address the needs of our diverse patient populations, we have created culture-focused medical programs to remove barriers and challenges faced by groups that have been marginalized when seeking health care such as access, language, transportation, financial and more. Each dedicated program is specifically designed to target and remove obstacles to ensure continuity of care, improve patient satisfaction, community relationships, and provide quality and culturally competent care. Culture-focused programs help patients to reach their optimum health by ensuring that they have access to the high-quality inpatient or outpatient care and services they need, as well as free screenings, community education and low-cost preventive programs.

LGBTQ+ Resources

Differently Abled Resources

  • Deaf and Hearing Impaired
  • Visually Impaired (Aira)
Aira connects people who are blind or have low vision to highly trained, remotely-located human agents. Through an app on your smartphone, Aira delivers instant access to visual information at the touch of a button. When patients or visitors are onsite at a RWJBH facility, Aira is available to them free of charge. This app is enabled by a geofence around the facility that Aira creates and maintains. The only requirement to take advantage of this is to have the Aira app installed. From an Android or iOS phone, visit aira.io/app to download and install Aira.
