Frequently Asked Questions About The Total Joint Replacement and Spine Institute
What is the Total Joint Replacement and Spine Institute?
It is a program dedicated exclusively to patients undergoing hip and knee replacement surgery. Our goal is to help you regain mobility, with less pain, so that you may enjoy a more active lifestyle.
How can I become a patient?
Speak with your orthopedic surgeon to find out if joint replacement surgery is right for you. Your surgeon will tell you about our program and how it can benefit you and help you regain an active lifestyle with less pain. If your surgeon is unfamiliar with our program, ask him to call our program coordinator at 732.557.8194 for information.
What is the pre-operative class for joint replacement patients?
Our pre-operative class is designed to help patients who are planning to have a hip or knee replacement understand everything that will happen before and after surgery. Patients who take this class report feeling very well informed about what to expect. It helps to relieve their anxieties about the procedure and also helps to promote a better recuperation period following surgery.
When should I attend the pre-operative class?
The class is offered Mondays from 1 to 3:00 p.m., except on holidays that fall on Mondays. You may attend a class any time prior to your scheduled surgery.
May I bring someone with me to the pre-operative class?
We encourage you to bring someone with you to the class. It is always a good idea to have ‘two sets of eyes and ears’ since you will be receiving a lot of important information.
