Putting your heart in the hands of another is a big step. We’re here to help you feel confident and empower you to make the best choice for you and your heart health. The Department of Cardiac Surgery at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) is able to offer you the most comprehensive and compassionate care.
Our multidisciplinary team comprised of cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, radiologists, anesthesiologists and cardiac surgeons are experts in diagnosing and treating all cardiac valve syndromes and disorders. Historically, cardiac surgery has been performed as an open procedure (large incisions of 8-10 inches long / involves cutting the breastbone in half / general anesthesia), but over the years, minimally-invasive techniques (small incisions of 2–3 inches long / general anesthesia) have been developed to provide safe and effective alternatives.
