Grand Rounds: Stress Fracture Management in the Female Athlete
Dr. Humaira Ashraf is a fellowship trained board-certified physiatrist at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School where she specializes in sports medicine and spine interventional procedures. She presented on behalf of the Musculoskeletal and Sports Medicine Institute at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center on Stress Fracture Management in the Female Athlete: A Multidisciplinary Approach as keynote speaker of RWJBarnabas Health’s Sports Medicine Grand Rounds program in June. Dr. Ashraf highlighted overall nutritional and mental health challenges with the female athlete through a multidisciplinary panel discussion. Supportive panelists included: Dr. Jason Krystofiak, Medical Director of Sports Medicine for Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center and of the Matthew J. Morahan III Health Assessment Center for Athletes at RWJBarnabas Health as well assistant team physician for Rutgers athletics; Dr. Pete Economou, Director of Behavioral Health and Wellness for Rutgers University Athletics; Jenn Stautz, Assistant athletic trainer women’s gymnastics Rutgers University Athletics; Katie Salomone, Director of Sports Nutrition Rutgers University Athletics.
