Cancer and Blood Disorders
The Valerie Fund Children’s Center
The Valerie Fund Children’s Center is one of eight hospital-based programs in the tri-state area that provides treatment for children with cancer and blood disorders. Providing these services close to home keeps the child near other family members while ensuring that the care is at the cutting edge. Patients receive treatment on an outpatient basis from a team of specialists, including pediatric hematologists/oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, nurses, social workers, counselors and child life specialists. Among the Valerie Fund's services is red blood cell apheresis — a sophisticated exchange/transfusion of red blood cells for patients with sickle cell disease.
