Southern Ocean County Interfaith Advocacy and Leadership (SOCIAL) Network
When a community struggles with substance use, it can be challenging to know where to access resources. Faith-based leaders can act as anchors for their community members as they know the challenges that can arise in supporting a community in crisis. The SOCIAL Network works with faith-based organizations in southern Ocean County to develop preventative and protective factors, helping create communities where healthy families can thrive.
The SOCIAL Network works to:
- Implement evidence-based programming in community organizations and schools throughout Ocean County to reduce substance use and improve mental health in youth and adults.
- Host trainings focused on topics that resonate with community members, addressing shared interests and equipping individuals with practical tools.
- Collaborate with all faith-based organizations to decrease risk factors and increase protective factors while promoting healthy behaviors in our communities.
- Guide a needs assessment process that identifies service gaps and increases access to resources that are uniquely tailored to southern Ocean County and address social determinants of health.
