Infectious Disease Treatments & Education
The mission of our Division of Infectious Diseases is to provide patient-centered care and innovative education, all while serving to the community. We provide care to our patients in areas of diagnosis, management, and prevention of infectious diseases including viral, bacterial, parasitic, and fungal.
In an effort to increase outreach to patients living with HIV, the Division of Infectious Diseases has instituted the special HIV clinic at Jersey City Medical Center. This program offers HIV care to patients in Jersey City and surrounding counties. Our Medical Center commitment to excellence is reflected in our dedicated health care professionals who continue to make a difference.
Pediatric Infectious Disease Treatment
We are also pleased to offer a Pediatric Infectious Disease Program, which provides evaluation and therapy for children with a variety of infections including Lyme Disease, recurrent fever/infection, immune-deficiency disorders and HIV.
Our physicians like to work with families to help prevent infections in
children rather than trying to cure them after the fact. They do this
through the education on the importance of hand-washing and spotting lice
outbreaks in children and more.
Overall, the Division of Infectious Diseases provides the following to
our patients:
- Consultation in infectious diseases for both inpatients and outpatients
- Diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases, including viral, bacterial, protozoal and fungal
- Diagnosis and treatment of HIV/AIDS
- Expertise for travel-related and tropical diseases
- Consultation on infection control policies and procedures
- Consultation on methods for dealing with epidemics
