Chairman’s Message
It is with great privilege that I introduce the Northern Department of Cardiac Surgery at RWJBarnabas Health. Our department is home to New Jersey’s top cardiac surgeons who are skilled in all aspects of heart care. Our surgical team is recognized as national leaders in the field and continues to advance the latest minimally-invasive techniques.
Our Northern Department of Cardiac Surgery, which encompasses Jersey City Medical Center, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, provides easy access to highly sophisticated, cardiac surgeons. At these facilities, our surgeons, who are experts in advanced cardiac surgery, heart failure, heart and lung transplantation, and minimally-invasive cardiac surgery, operate at the forefront of innovation. They also specialize in conditions with disease complexities involving multiple valves, multiple bypasses, and aortic emergencies. The combination of specialized clinicians and state-of-the-art facilities offers patients individualized care with faster recovery times and fewer complications.
Further, in conjunction with our colleagues throughout RWJBarnabas Health, we participate in more clinical research trials than any other heart care program in New Jersey, helping patients gain access to promising new treatments and technology. The clinical trials are research projects, allowing our surgeons to incorporate the latest research findings into comprehensive care plans.
I invite you to explore the growing cardiac surgery team that I am extremely proud of. This team has an impressive record of sustained excellence and I look forward to continuing to provide unparalleled clinical care, unmatched expertise, and trailblazing research to our communities.
Yours in Good Health,
Arash Salemi, MD, FACS
Clinical Chairman of Cardiothoracic Surgery, RWJBarnabas Health
