The Cancer Center at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center

The Cancer Center at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, together with Rutgers Cancer Institute, the state’s only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, (is dedicated to providing the very best in cancer care and achieving the highest level of patient satisfaction. Our highly trained, board-certified physicians provide compassionate personalized treatment for each patient. Our physicians partner with our patients so they understand their illness, their treatment plan, and all the medical expertise available to treat their cancer. The multidisciplinary team at the Cancer Center addresses all aspects of cancer care including medical, psychological and educational needs.

Scheduled to open in late 2025, the $225Million 137,000 square foot Melchiorre Cancer Center at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center will serve as the northern hub for oncology services for RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Cancer Institute. This state—of-the-art facility will provide access to a full array of medical, surgical, and radiation oncology services under one roof.

father with daughter on his shoulders, blue sky behind themThe Cancer Survivorship and Wellness Program at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center focuses on patients who have completed treatment and are starting the journey back to a “new normal.” Our cancer survivorship team will help you to attain a healthy and full life after cancer and we will focus on supporting you and your loved ones during this new phase of your life. Our program is led by Louise Ligresti, MD, Chief of Cancer Survivorship, Rutgers Cancer Institute and RWJBarnabas Health. A board-certified medical oncologist and member of our Cancer Center physician team, she is an expert in identifying and treating the issues that you might face after completing treatment.
