Medicare Approved Indications for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
The Center for Wound Healing at Somerset provides access to Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), a simple, non-invasive, and painless treatment that enhances the body's natural healing abilities and strengthens the immune system. The use of HBOT will usually result in a more rapid and complete healing for patients.
Hyperbaric oxygen may be used as an adjunctive therapy for a number of approved symptoms:
- Diabetic wounds of lower extremities, non-healing Wagner grade III wound or higher
- Chronic refractory osteomyelitis
- Osteoradionecrosis
- Soft tissue radionecrosis
- Comprised skin grafts and flaps
- Acute peripheral arterial insufficiency
- Progressive necrotizing infections
- Gas embolism
