Our Radiology Department features the latest in radiological equipment and is nationally accredited, signifying that it adheres to the highest standards in quality. Our board-certified physicians and skilled staff are committed to providing the very best patient care.
Now Showing: Your Images
The department is now digital thanks to new picture archiving and communications systems (PACS) technology that accepts digital images from diagnostic equipment, such as X-rays and MRIs, stores them in a long-term archive and immediate review. The technology enables radiologists to read images online as opposed to using traditional film, increasing the speed by which imaging results can be completed and communicated to physicians. The PACS is integrated with the medical center’s electronic medical record system, allowing physicians to view patients’ medical records along with radiological images either at the medical center or remotely from their offices, homes or other locations.
New Services
-
Breast MRI. MRI of the breast offers valuable information about many breast conditions
that cannot be obtained by other imaging modalities, such as mammography
or ultrasound. It is not a replacement for mammography or ultrasound imaging
but rather a supplemental tool for
detecting and staging breast cancer and other breast abnormalities. - CT-guided lung biopsy. The CT machine combines X-ray and computer technology. It creates detailed images that provide the radiologist with a road map for the biopsy needle to travel to take the tissue sample. CT imaging greatly decreases the chance of accidentally puncturing blood vessels, airways, nerves or organs during the procedure.
- Dual energy imaging. Dual Energy Subtraction is a new tool for evaluating rib fractures, bone abnormalities, primary lung cancer, metastatic disease, pneumonia, cardiac disease and lung diseases. It provides multiple images of the chest during one session. It provides the radiologist with a traditional X-ray image of the chest, as well as an image of the chest with the bones removed (known as the soft-tissue image) and an image of the skeletal system of the chest (referred to as the bone image).
- Low-dose CT scans. State-of-the-art CT scanning that reduces radiation exposure while producing the highest quality images. Studies show this technology can reduce your radiation exposure by up to 50 percent.
- Virtual colonography. Virtual colonography (also known as virtual colonoscopy), is one of the most comprehensive, non-invasive colon exams available. Our GE VCT XT 64 scanner provides two-dimensional and three-dimensional images of the colon. The system's specialized software recreates the inside of the patient's colon, allowing for a "fly through" or "virtual" evaluation of the colon that provides the precise location and size of colon polyps and masses.
- DaTscan. A nuclear scan that helps diagnose Parkinson's Disease.
Other Services Also Available
- Positron emission tomography and computed tomography (PET/CT) scanning. One of the most advanced diagnostic tools available today, PET/CT goes beyond the capabilities of traditional imaging techniques. In less than one hour, PET/CT can scan your entire body for conditions affecting your heart, brain and other organs. A PET/CT scan can detect biochemical changes in body tissues that may be altered by disease, often before there is a change in anatomy.
- Interventional/digital subtractionangiography (DSA). Our DSA unit provides digital high-resolution vascular imaging. It is used for tests including angiography, angioplasty, vascular stents, genitourinary stents, biliary stents, drainage tubes, venous access lines, biopsies, embolizations and stone removal.
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Our high-speed MRI unit provides the clearest images available and enables more detailed scanning than with previous technology. The MRI can obtain images of the head, shoulder, torso and extremities as well as vascular imaging. The MRI also can provide specialized breast imaging capabilities to augment a mammogram if needed. The MRI department is accredited by the American College of Radiology.
- Nuclear medicine. Nuclear Medicine's three networked cameras provide imaging for a comprehensive range of tests, including bone analysis and cardiac tests including nuclear stress test and IV non-exercise nuclear stress test. The Nuclear Medicine department recently received three-year accreditation from the American College of Radiology, demonstrating its high standards of care.
- X-Ray imaging. Our X-ray imaging services include all routine exams (head, neck, chest, spine, pelvis, extremities and abdomen) for inpatients, outpatients and emergency room patients.
- Ultrasound. Our Ultrasound Department offers five state-of-the-art scanners. Using sound waves, ultrasound provides images of the abdomen, pelvis (including OB/GYN) and chest. In addition, we use ultrasound guidance for procedures such as thoracentesis, paracentesis, amniocentesis and cyst aspiration. This department is accredited by the American College of Radiology and the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories.
