Diabetes Center at Somerset Campus
Hours of Operation:
Monday, Wednesday-Friday: 8am-5pm
Tuesday: 11am-8pm
One Saturday each month (contact for appointment date)
The center, established in 1996, has been awarded its fourth three-year Education Recognition Certificate from the American Diabetes Association for continuing to meet national standards for quality diabetes self-management education.
The Diabetes Center offers:
- One-on-one educational counseling
- Blood glucose monitoring
- Meal planning and nutritional counseling
- Information on preventing complications
- Resource management
- Exercise planning
- Insulin pump therapy by certified pump trainers
- Psychosocial counseling
- Family support
- A gestational program for those with diabetes only during pregnancy

- Nutrition (includes meal planning and carbohydrate counting)
- Fitness guidelines
- Stress and weight management
- Medications
- Blood glucose monitoring
- Foot care
- Community resources
- Behavioral goal-setting
Support Groups
Our support group at the hospital is Living Well with Diabetes (adult group),
which is held quarterly. For dates, call 908-685-2846.
Our Staff
Directed by a board certified endocrinologist, the staff includes a clinical
nurse specialist, an advanced practice nurse, certified diabetes nurse
educators, registered dietitians and certified diabetes educators.
