    Individualized Treatment
Many factors must be taken into account to develop the best treatment for each patient. Patients and families are part of this process and review the plan with the patient's physician and other members of the Cancer Services Team.

Methods of treatment may include the following:

    • Chemotherapy is a treatment option that is provided by nurses or physicians trained in its administration on an inpatient or outpatient basis. Patients are instructed about the drugs given, and every effort is made to minimize or alleviate possible side effects. We now offer Paxman Scalp Cooling treatment to help prevent hair loss caused by certain chemotherapy drugs.
    • Surgery is an option for some patients, depending on the type, size and location of the disease.
    • Biotherapy may be administered as part of the treatment plan. Biotherapy medications impact the immune system and are a recent advancement in cancer therapy.
    • Nutritional support therapy also may be part of the treatment program. This may include nutrition supplements, intravenous hyperalimentation fluids or diets high in protein and calories.
    • Support services and education
