Patient Liasion Role

Our Peri-Operative Patient Liaison is available to patients and families on the day of surgery. The Liaison meets with the families in the surgical waiting room and helps guide them through the process of waiting during surgery, what to expect from their post-operative conversation with the surgeon, and explains the different phases of recovery and provides a general overview of the day. The Patient Liaison will secure updates on patient status from the recovery room nurses when requested, and ensure that the families are informed when the patient moves to their room. Our Same Day patients may have one family member join them in the second phase of recovery and the Patient Liaison will facilitate this process. Additionally, if the OR is experiencing delays to the schedule, the Liaison will keep the patients and family members as informed as possible.
