Waiting for Your Kidney Transplant

People who meet the criteria for a kidney transplant are placed on the national waiting list maintained by the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS). They will be matched with donors based on blood type, tissue type, and medical suitability. Length of time on the list is also a consideration.

During your time on the waiting list, it is impOn the kidney transplant waiting listortant that you:

  • Update the transplant team on any changes in your physical condition
  • Provide the team with any changes in your personal or insurance information
  • Visit us for your annual or bi-annual consultation

Your status may change if symptoms get better or worse. Your transplant team is the best source of current information regarding your status and treatment options.
