How to Prepare for a Pediatric Feeding Evaluation
During a pediatric feeding evaluation, a speech pathologist will complete a comprehensive history and perform an examination to assess the difficulties your child is having with feeding and swallowing.
If your child eats by mouth, they will be asked to eat some food in the office while the speech pathologist observes them. If your child does not eat by mouth, the therapist will observe their relationship with food and readiness to safely initiate eating.
Please be sure your child is hungry enough to participate in eating and drinking.
