Pennsylvania Couple Believes Compassionate, Quality Care is Worth Traveling For
When it comes to their healthcare needs, John and MaryAnn Lukaszewski of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, drive right past their local hospital and head straight over state lines to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton (RWJUH Hamilton), an RWJBarnabas Health facility. The couple, married for 38 years, left Yardville, New Jersey, two years ago after having lived there for 23 years. And while they chose to leave New Jersey to be closer to their son, John Jr., they knew they could not leave behind the exceptional care they had been receiving for years in Hamilton Township, NJ.
“The top three things that bring us back to RWJUH Hamilton are the physicians, the nurses and the atmosphere,” says MaryAnn. “From Patient Experience to Security, everyone here knows us and takes care of us. RWJUH Hamilton is the best of the best.”
The Lukaszewski’s have turned to RWJUH Hamilton when they were at their most vulnerable. In September of 2018, MaryAnn became critically ill with sepsis, a perforated bowel and diverticulitis. She credits surgeon Howard Hardy III, MD, and surgeon Charles Eisengart, MD, for saving her life. After four surgeries in four days and three weeks of inpatient care, she is grateful to the entire team and blessed to have made a full recovery.
However, even more recently, John, who receives transfusions at the Cancer Center at RWJUH Hamilton, located on the hospital’s campus, fell ill with a severe urinary tract infection and kidney failure. MaryAnn is thankful to urologist John Watson, MD, and hospitalist Samer Haddad, MD, for providing him with top-notch care. MaryAnn says, “Dr. Haddad is the best and is so attentive. Ian in Patient Experience is also always there to help us, and nurses Gabi H., Michelle C. and Kelly A. have provided nothing but outstanding care. I wouldn’t bring John anywhere else, and we wouldn’t put our lives in the hands of anyone other than the staff at RWJUH Hamilton.”
