With the help of his family, staff, and his support group, Gene was able to fight the fight and beat his cancer into remission.
Gene Armstead was once the tallest basketball player in Rutgers University history and helped lead his team to the Final Four. After being diagnosed with prostate cancer, Gene was able to find the same support and camaraderie that he had on the court in a men's cancer support group held at the Steeplechase Cancer Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset. With the help of his family, staff, and his support group, Gene was able to fight the fight and beat his cancer into remission.
