Leading this surgical team is the director of laparoscopy for the Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery at Monmouth Medical Center, board-certified surgeon Frank J. Borao, M.D., FACS. Dr. Borao is fellowship trained in advanced laparoscopic surgery and is among the few surgeons in the region capable of performing laparoscopic gastric bypass for morbid obesity. Dr. Borao - who has published techniques of laparoscopic gastric bypass - is joined by a number of prominent Monmouth Medical Center general, colon and rectal, urologic and pediatric surgeons. And because the latest technical tools are necessary for state-of-the-art performance, Monmouth's surgical suites are equipped with the most advanced laparoscopes, video cameras, light sources and other specially designed surgical instruments.
