Comprehensive GI Motility
and Reflux Program

Our Services

Do you experience gastrointestinal symptoms such as heartburn, regurgitation, difficulty swallowing, or early feeling of fullness when eating? These are often symptoms associated with esophageal motility disorders and chronic gastroesophageal reflux disease. If you suffer from these or other unexplained GI symptoms, our program may be right for you.

Our Program

Motility disorders are conditions that affect the movement of the GI tract and the contents within it. Our specialists work as a team to treat patients who suffer from conditions such as, but not limited to:

  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Chronic reflux
  • Barrett’s Esophagus
  • Eosinophilic esophagitis
  • Chronic allergic/immune conditions causing inflammation of the esophagus
  • Motility disorders such as achalasia, a disorder that makes it difficult for food and liquids to pass into your stomach.

One of the benefits of this program is that these conditions may require the expertise of different specialists from different specialty areas to effectively treat and manage your condition. At the GI Motility Program in the Anne Vogel Wellness Center, we will do a comprehensive screening to evaluate the causes and source of your problem and then determine the appropriate physicians and testing required for your evaluation.

How do you know when to take a stomach ache seriously? Dimitry Oleynikov, MD, Chairman of our Department of Surgery, explains in the article, "When to Trust Your Gut About Digestive Issues."
