Opportunity Details

The Physician’s responsibilities, as a member of the Department of Oncology, shall be subject to the direction of the Regional Medical Director and the Chief Medical Officer(s) and include, but not be limited to the following:

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Physician shall devote all of the time, attention and energy reasonably required to provide clinical care to the patients of the Oncology Practice.
  • Physician shall provide supervision and medical management of the services rendered in the Infusion Center(s) as appropriate.
  • Physician shall devote all of the time, attention and energy reasonably required to provide clinical care as an attending for patients.
  • Physician shall support the hematology oncology program within the Southern Region in terms of patient care and clinical research endeavors.
  • Physician shall take night and weekend calls for the Oncology Service as per schedule and as determined by hospital leadership.
  • Physician shall spend 5 days a week in clinical outpatient practice and hospital coverage as assigned providing clinical care to patients.
  • Physician shall navigate patients for necessary services provided at the hospitals and the RWJ Barnabas Health and the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey (RCINJ) Network.

Teaching Responsibilities

  • As reasonably delegated by the Regional Medical Director and the Chief Medical Officer.
  • Participation in department and hospital committees and activities as reasonably designated by the Regional Medical Director and the Chief Medical Officer.
  • Assist in the development of an outreach program to educate Primary Care Physicians and Sub-Specialists regarding Surgical, Medical and Radiation Oncology Services at participating hospitals and the RWJ Barnabas Health and the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey (RCINJ) Network.
  • Work with the case management team to address denials by the managed care companies regarding inpatient and outpatient denials as well as assisting in dialogue with the Managed Care Complex Case Manager as appropriate.
  • Proactively assists the CDI team for Oncology Services.
  • Participate in educational programs conducted by the Hospital and Oncology leadership.
  • Participate in administrative functions as reasonably requested to ensure effective and efficient management of the Oncology Program.
  • Participates in the various Tumor Boards as required and works to coordinate connectivity with RCINJ as appropriate.
