Dedicated State-of-the-Art Breast MRI
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the breast is a non-invasive test that uses a powerful magnetic field, radio waves and a computer to produce detailed images of the structures within the breast. Breast MRIs are a critical tool in detecting or ruling out breast cancer, particularly for certain women at high risk for breast cancer or who have dense breasts.
The newly acquired breast MRI machine for the Breast Center will seamlessly integrate MRI scans into patient care by providing scans on the premises improving patient flow, reducing wait times and increasing diagnostic reporting capabilities.
Should cancer be detected, Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center together with Rutgers Cancer Institute, New Jersey’s only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, provides patients access to the most advanced diagnoses and treatment options for breast cancer including complex surgical procedures, sophisticated radiation therapy techniques, innovative clinical trials, immunotherapy, and precision medicine. Our multidisciplinary team of nationally renowned oncologists, nurses, oncology nurse navigators, and support professionals ensure a compassionate, comprehensive approach, creating an individualized treatment plan for each patient.
The Breast Center has recently been renovated to make the space more efficient, comfortable and patient-centered. A spa-like area where gowned patients can wait for results will be added, with chairs positioned for privacy and amenities including coffee, tea and light snacks. Further enhancing the patient experience, the registration area is expanding from six to 10 bays and the clinical space is now directly adjacent to reception.
