Call for 24/7 Mental Health Support
The RWJBarnabas Health Behavioral Health Access Center is uniquely equipped to handle the needs of all callers at all times, including those in crisis who present with the most complex mental health problems.
Our licensed and compassionate staff provides referrals, rapid assessment and disposition planning, crisis intervention, hospital diversion services, and screening for hospitalization. One call to the Access Center enables a client or referral source to access care by scheduling appointments and locating the most appropriate providers and programs serving all of New Jersey.
In emergency or crisis situations, the Access Center staff refers the caller to the appropriate emergency psychiatric services. Emergency psychiatric and substance abuse assessment are performed at all affiliated facilities.
When hospitalization is necessary, our emergency staff will obtain pre-authorizations from insurers and assist with inpatient admission.
The Access Center is electronically networked through a sophisticated behavioral health information computer system, which allows the staff to identify the most appropriate providers and then schedule assessments during the initial call. Callers are assessed and the appropriate level of care is determined.
