Message from Our Chief
Dear Hudson County Community,
For patients in need of expert cardiac care in Hudson County, there is one clear choice: the only full-service heart and vascular hospital in the county at Jersey City Medical Center.
Since joining JCMC in 2012, I have experienced the hospital’s exponential growth as we continue to invest in the best physicians and latest technology. Today, JCMC is leading the way in innovative, minimally-invasive and full open-heart cardiac and vascular procedures. I am proud to lead the surgery program as Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Chair of Surgery, alongside Dr. Iosif Gulkarov, Associate Chief of Cardiac Surgery, who joined the medical staff in early 2020.
The year is looking to be promising as the hospital forges ahead with great cardiovascular programs. We will be adding the TAVR procedure to our list of services, offering patients with aortic stenosis, a less-invasive treatment option.
Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) is a minimally-invasive procedure that does not involve opening the chest and may be an option for patients who are at risk for complications from surgical aortic valve replacement. Patients who undergo TAVR typically spend less time in the hospital and have a faster recovery.
It takes a multidisciplinary team of highly skilled and dedicated doctors and medical staff to provide award winning and comprehensive cardiovascular and thoracic treatments. The cardiac surgery team performs coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), mitral valve repair and replacement, spontaneous coronary artery dissection, and procedures to treat aneurysms and myocarditis. Our electrophysiologist colleagues perform cutting-edge work through procedures that include atrial fibrillation ablation to treat irregular heartbeats.
Our team is working to change the perception that New York City is the only destination for top cardiac and vascular care. We invite residents to get to know our world-class center of excellence, located in the heart of Hudson County.
Hudson County residents can put their trust in Jersey City Medical Center for the highest quality heart, vascular and thoracic programs and specialties, imbued with patient-centered, compassionate care. This is our commitment to our patients and it’s what you can count on.
