"Cathy and I were born at the Margaret Hague"
My Jersey City Medical Center story began the day I was born. Over the years, I have seen the hospital evolve and I am proud of the fact that our city is home to nationally ranked health care.
From 1931 to 1979 more than 350,000 babies were born at The Margaret Hague Maternity Hospital at Jersey City Medical Center. My wife Catherine and I proudly count ourselves and our three sons among them.
The hospital, established during the administration of Jersey City Mayor Frank Hague and named after his mother, has a long and storied history of famous births. It was one of the largest and most popular maternity hospitals in the country. Its legacy continues through Jersey City Medical Center where the new state of the art hospital on the Jersey City waterfront continues to welcome Jersey City’s newest “Margaret Hague Babies.”
