Administrative Fellowship Program

This program exposes one Administrative Fellow to strategic planning initiatives and daily operations in all departments of an urban hospital. Under the direction of the Senior Leadership team at Jersey City Medical Center (JCMC), we are committed to enriching the Fellows’ learning experience through departmental rotations and project management. The Fellowship mentors will work with the Fellows to ensure projects are selected with their interest, experience, and organizational needs in mind.

Jersey City Medical Center – RWJBarnabas Health is 348-bed Level II Trauma Center located on a 15-acre campus overlooking the New York Harbor and Liberty State Park. The hospital serves as a regional teaching hospital and provides the highest level of care for women and infants, trauma, and cardiac patients.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must be in the final year of an accredited graduate program, pursuing a MHA, MPH, MPA, or MBA with an emphasis in health care, or degree equivalent.
  • Applicants must be US citizens or be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. (we are unable to sponsor H-1B visas).

Fellowship Structure

The Fellowship is a structured one-year program comprised of clinical and operational rotations. The program begins on Monday, June 9, 2025. During the year, the Fellow is exposed to various aspects of hospital administration.

During each rotation, the Fellow receives an overview of the department’s operations, challenges, and initiatives. The Fellow has the opportunity to work with that department on projects that are aligned with their interests and develop core competencies.

Interacting with the Senior Leadership team is an active part of the Fellowship. Hospital Directors serve as mentors for the Fellows, providing professional development and the opportunity to observe high-level strategic meetings.

Fellows leave the program with:

  • A comprehensive overview of the day-to-day operations of an urban hospital;
  • Familiarity with the role and function of health care administrators in the management of a health care facility;
  • And, exposure to many diverse projects and skill sets.
