RWJBarnabas Health Home Infusion Care Division
RWJBarnabas Health infusion division provides medications to be infused at home, along with nutritional support, infusion pumps, supplies and nursing care. Home infusion offers a convenient, cost-effective alternative to lengthy hospital stays or frequent outpatient visits. RWJBarnabas Health infusion and specialty pharmacy is accredited by The Joint Commission and has board certified sterile compounding pharmacists, PICC certified and CRNI nurses to deliver the highest level of care to patients at home.
Service Include
- Comprehensive assessments and educational materials with individualized patient and caregiver training
- Highly skilled pharmacists and registered dietician coordinate care with physicians to determine appropriate TPN formulas, drug dosages and can customize sterile compounds in our state-of-the-art clean room for the safest, most precise treatment regimens
- Therapies that are coordinated by the pharmacy staff are: total parenteral nutrition, antibiotic, antifungal, antivirals, chemotherapy, pain management, hydration, inotropic therapy, antiemetic and enteral therapy
- Free, dependable same day delivery of medication and supplies to the patients’ home, office or other designated location, with inventory monitoring to ensure ample supplies
- Reimbursement specialists handle all insurance verifications, authorizations, claims and billing
- Office hours Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 5:00PM
- 24-Hour On Call Nurse and Pharmacist for any issues
- Bilingual staff and on-call translators to help to ensure that our non-English speaking patients fully understand their therapy regimens
- Liaisons are staffed at CBMC, NBI, NBR, RAH, SOM, CMMC, JCMC, CMC and MMC to assist our system case managers with safe and timely home infusion discharges.

Nursing Care Provided
Caring, knowledgeable staff of IV, PICC certified, CRNI and Oncology certified nurses have years of experience in all aspects and genres of home infusion care. Our nursing staff and our technician liaison work with patients to help them comfortably transition from hospital to home infusion delivering one-on-one, customized patient education and hands-on training for self administration of medication. Nurses perform regular home visits to monitor patient progress throughout their therapy, and provide ongoing clinical care, assessment and maintenance of intravenous sites and equipment.
