Continuing competence is a hallmark of professionalism and a means by which a profession is held accountable to society. Nursing professional development builds on the educational and experiential bases of nurses across their professional careers for the ultimate goal of ensuring the quality of health care to the public.” (ANA Scope and Standards of Practice for Nursing Professional Development, 2000.) The Center for Professional Development, Innovation & Research provides the professional nurse not only with guidance, but with a centralized resource of learning opportunities to assist in their development and enhancement of professional practice, as well as career goal achievement. The Center offers the opportunity to discover and learn about Professional Development and Innovation, and Nursing Research.

Nursing research conducted at our affiliate health care centers continues to improve the care and treatment of our patients. Projects conducted by our nurses have been published in national nursing journals. The depth of experience of our team of nurses is highly regarded and shared throughout the system via regular system-wide nursing conferences/ meetings, collaboratives as well as the Bridge. A unique and comprehensive recruitment and retention plan has been developed to meet the needs of our nursing departments and employees.
