Kelly Keefe Marcoux, PhD, APN, CPNP-AC, CCRN-K, serves as the Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer for Children’s Specialized Hospital (CSH). In this role, Dr. Keefe Marcoux supports the provision of patient care services in the rehabilitation hospital, long term care units, ambulatory sites and community programs. Additionally, she oversees patient safety as well as nursing practice and standards throughout CSH.
Since joining CSH in 2014, Dr. Keefe Marcoux has served as a valuable member of the CSH family elevating patient care services throughout the organization. Most recently, she served as AVP and Associate Chief Nursing Officer at CSH and VP of Children’s Services for RWJBarnabas Health (RWJBH). During her tenure as AVP and Associate Chief Nursing Officer at CSH, Dr. Keefe Marcoux was instrumental in developing the first Pediatric APN Fellowship programs in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics and Pediatric Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in the United States. Additionally, she oversaw crucial initiatives that significantly reduced total patient harm. In her system role, Dr. Keefe Marcoux was influential in facilitating collaboration among all system hospitals regarding pediatric care and establishing baseline metrics to support execution of the children’s services system strategic plan.
Prior to joining the CSH and RWJBH teams, Dr. Keefe Marcoux received her BSN from Johns Hopkins University, School of Nursing and her MSN from University of Pennsylvania, School of Nursing. Her expertise comes from over 30 years of experience in pediatric acute care, beginning as the first Pediatric Critical Care Nurse Practitioner in the tristate area, and evolving into quality improvement, academia, and hospital leadership roles throughout her tenure.
Additionally, Dr. Keefe Marcoux has presented nationally and internationally and is published in multiple peer-reviewed journals and books on topics related to pediatric acute and critical care with a particular focus on family-centered care as well as the evolving role of advanced practice nurses.
Dr. Keefe Marcoux completed her dissertation for her PhD in Nursing at Seton Hall University focusing on parent’s perception of patient and family centered care in the critical care environment and how the provision of this care impact parental stress.
