Family Medicine Residency Program

Applications must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). No faxes or emails will be accepted, and no applications will be pre-screened.
Applicants must be US citizens or be currently authorized to work in the United States. RWJUH Somerset will not consider applicants in need of a visa.
Medical schools must be on the Medical Schools Recognized by the Medical Board of California list.
Applicants must have graduated within two years of July 2025
International Medical Graduates must meet all requirements for certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG)
Passing scores on USMLE Steps/COMLEX Levels, preferably on the first attempt.
Direct, supervised clinical experience in the United States within the last twelve months
Three Letters of Recommendation from US physicians with whom the applicant has had direct clinical experience, including two Letters from Family Physicians
Only applicants enrolled in the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School 3-year MD path are eligible to apply for the Family Medicine/3-yr MD path (Categorical) track

All interviews for the 2024-2025 recruitment season will be conducted virtually
Invitations to interview will be sent out on a rolling basis through Thalamus beginning in October 2024
Interviews will be scheduled through Thalamus
Interviews will be conducted on Monday, Tuesday and Friday mornings beginning on October 21, 2024. Interviews will conclude in late January 2025
Dates for virtual “Meet and Greet” sessions with residents will be announced at a later date
