Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is a storied Advanced Heart Failure program having successfully transplanted almost 1200 patients thus far. The Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Fellowship at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center provides the fellow with knowledge and skills that are required to care for patients with advance heart failure and those who have undergone or are awaiting cardiac transplantation or mechanical circulatory support placement (durable and temporary). Additionally, NBI is the only center in the state performing Lung transplantation and we also offer select patients multiorgan transplantation (Heart + Kidney/ Lung/ Liver).
The 12 month clinical training program is designed to provide the trainee with in depth education of the entire spectrum of heart failure and comprehensive knowledge in the care and management of heart failure patients in both outpatient and inpatient/critical care settings . The fellowship program will provide a robust clinical and academic environment in the form of a core curriculum compromised of didactic lectures, journal clubs, and clinical case presentations. Attendance and presentations at national and international conferences in strongly recommended. Additionally, our fellows are also provided the opportunity to utilize and manage cutting edge technologies & devices in the management of heart failure patients (BiV, CCM, Barostim, CardioMEMS, and other devices).
