Curriculum
Rheumatology Fellowship Program at Jersey City Medical Center
The Rheumatology didactics include Core Curriculum conference series, as well as weekly case conferences.
Our program's Core Curriculum Conference Series is designed to ensure comprehensive coverage of essential topics in Rheumatology. The series is comprised of state-of-the-art lectures delivered over two years. The lectures are meticulously designed by subject matter experts in rheumatology and other relevant fields to ensure a comprehensive and up-to-date curriculum that integrates the latest research, clinical guidelines, and treatment innovations. The series follows a systematic sequence to cover essential topics with deliberate overlap between the first and second years.
Weekly Case Conferences
The fellows will engage in weekly Rheumatology case conferences, which will comprise of fellow led case management discussions, as well as journal club presentations that will enhance the fellows understanding of the current literature in Rheumatology. These sessions allow fellows to discuss real-life cases. Cases are selected to highlight diagnostic challenges, management strategies, and interdisciplinary collaboration, promoting a holistic approach to patient care.
In addition to adequate inpatient experience, Fellows will have a robust outpatient continuity rheumatology clinic. There would be opportunities to engage in electives such as nephrology, ophthalmology, neurology and musculoskeletal radiology. Also, Mandatory rotation selectives such as pediatric rheumatology, orthopedics/ sports medicine, and physical medicine and rehabilitation/ physical therapy rotations will also add to the Fellows’ expertise.
The fellowship program sponsors fellows’ travel to rheumatology conferences, either ACR or SOTA/USSONAR, based on fellows’ interest and available funding.
