Internal Medicine
at Jersey City Medical Center
A Message from the Internal Medicine Program Director
Jersey City Medical Center was one of the first medical centers in the United States and the first in New Jersey. Many people in Northern New Jersey still call it “The Medical Center.” Jersey City Medical Center has a rich tradition in medical education and is proud member of RWJBarnabas Health health care system. The Medical Center is a 326 bed teaching hospital located in historic downtown Jersey City serving one of the most diverse communities in the nation. The hospital provides a rich environment for Internal Medicine training with emphasis on hands on experience and proximate patient care.
The Internal Medicine program is committed to recruiting physicians of diverse experiences and talents and developing their abilities to promote the health and wellness of the community it serves. Residents are embedded into multidisciplinary teams where high quality, evidence based patient centered medical care is provided and every patient is treated with unwavering skill and commitment. The curriculum and faculty mentorship nurture residents’ progressive responsibility and graduated autonomy. Each resident will have a personalized educational experience which encourages them to acquire the skills of self-learning and introspective practice. When residents graduate they will leave with the tools essential to maintaining and improving one’s performance over the course of a meaningful and productive career.
