Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Community Medical Center
Nicole Maguire, DO, FACEP
Program Director
Dr. Maguire is the Program Director for Emergency Medicine at Community Medical Center where she is excited to welcome her first class of 12 residents in 2021. She has served as the Osteopathic Program Director of Emergency Medicine at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center from 2009-2019 and as the Associate Program Director from 2015 - 2020. She has also held the position of Emergency Medicine Clerkship Director at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center from 2007-2020. She continues to work clinically as an attending physician at Community Medical Center.
Dr. Maguire graduated Cum Laude from Boston College and attended New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed a dually accredited residency in Emergency Medicine at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. She is board certified in Emergency Medicine by both the American Board of Emergency Medicine and the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine. She is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Medicine and is a Clinical Assistant Professor at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and St. George’s University.
Dr. Maguire’s areas of interest and research include academics, resuscitative medicine, international medicine and clinical ethics. She was the physician leader at Newark Beth Israel for Moderate Therapeutic Hypothermia from 2011-2020 and has lectured in many settings on the topic. She was also the Vice-Chair of the Bio-Ethics Committee at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center from 2018-2020. She currently resides in New Jersey with her husband, daughter and twin sons. She is an avid US Master’s swimmer and enjoys running, yoga, biking and time with family and friends.
Gerardo Chiricolo, MD, FACEP

Regional Director, RWJBH EHS Emergency Ultrasound
Dr. Chiricolo graduated from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara and completed the Fifth Pathway Program at New York Medical College, Valhalla, New York. He completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at North Shore University Hospital and his Ultrasound Fellowship at North Shore University Hospital. Dr. Chiricolo served as Vice Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine and Chief of the Clinical Ultrasound Division at New York Presbyterian-Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in New York. Under his leadership, the Emergency Department throughput times were significantly improved with innovative process changes and “leave without being seen” rates decreased. Dr. Chiricolo has held national leadership positions, including Chair of the Ultrasound Section of the ACEP and Chair of the Board of Governors for the Clinical Ultrasound Accreditation Program for the ACEP. He has also served as an assistant professor at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York since 2013 and has served as a consultant to a variety of professional organizations. Dr. Chiricolo was named Teaching Faculty of the Year at New York Presbyterian-Brooklyn Methodist Hospital for the Department of Emergency Medicine in 2012, 2014, and 2015, and Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary/Critical Care in 2012. He has spoken nationally and internationally at both Emergency Medicine and Ultrasound-related conferences and been published in multiple peer-reviewed medical publications. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, sports especially soccer, and traveling.
Eric Stander, MD
Vice Chair, Core Faculty
Dr. Stander completed his medical school training at UMDNJ – Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine and went on to residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. While there, he was awarded resident of the year during his PGY-2 from the community affiliate, Methodist Hospital, and served as chief resident during his PGY-3. Following graduation, he worked at Methodist Hospital, and served as the Assistant Medical Director for 3 years. Dr. Stander then worked at Ocean Medical Center followed by Nazareth Hospital, where he served as the Medical Director at both locations. After leaving Nazareth Hospital, Dr. Stander spent 12 years as Clinical Service Chief of Emergency Medicine at Hahnemann University Hospital, a level 1 trauma center and tertiary care teaching hospital for Drexel University College of Medicine. While there, he obtained the rank of Clinical Professor, served on several national committees and regional committees, and was deeply involved in teaching residents and students. Over his long career, he has been involved in many hospital and regional committees, was medical director for an Air Ambulance Medivac, helped design and implement new emergency departments, installed electronic medical record systems, was involved in developing state legislature for ED operations, and most importantly helped mentor and train many upcoming physicians. His academic interests involve clinical operations and system design to better improve ED efficiency. He also truly enjoys clinical teaching and is looking forward to many more years of mentoring young minds.
Lisa Armstrong, MD, FACEP
Medical Student Clerkship Director
Director of Pediatric Emergency Medicine
Dr. Armstrong graduated from Rutgers – NJ Medical School. She received her training in Emergency Medicine at Morristown Medical Center, where she also was Chief Resident, and then completed a fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Afterwards, she remained at Morristown for 7 years, teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, along with being a member of the Resident Review Council. She left Morristown to go to Capital Health Systems, where she was the Pediatric Emergency Department Director, and Assistant Emergency Department Director. Committed to medical education, she was thrilled at the opportunity to join CMC in starting an Emergency Medicine Residency. As the Medical Student Clerkship Director and Pediatric Emergency Department Director, she enjoys teaching and working with medical students and residents. She recently completed the ACEP Teaching Fellowship, and has enjoyed putting that training to use to enhance her educational skills! She is board certified in both Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Emergency Medicine, and has been in practice for over 10 years.
Danielle Biggs, MD
Associate Program Director
Director of Emergency Ultrasound
Dr. Biggs received her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. She completed residency in Emergency Medicine at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ, where she was voted “Rookie of the Year” as an intern and later became Chief Resident. After residency, she stayed at Morristown where she completed an Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship, the ACEP Teaching Fellowship, and was a part of the core faculty. She was voted “Most Valuable Contributor” to the residency program at MMC for the 2019-2020 academic year. Dr. Biggs also successfully implemented ultrasound education programs for physicians and APPs at community sites within the Atlantic Health System. She is passionate about residency education, ultrasound, and wellness. In her free time, she loves spending time with her two daughters, Scarlett & Mikayla, shopping, and traveling.
Christopher DelMaestro, DO
Director of Simulation
Dr. DelMaestro is New Jersey born and raised. He attended college at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey before attending medical school in Tennessee at Lincoln Memorial University – DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine. He returned to the tri-state area for his residency at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. He completed his Simulation Fellowship at the Center for Medical Simulation, which is affiliated with Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dr. DelMaestro’s medical interests include health care simulation and medical education. When he's not in the hospital, he enjoys hanging out at the beach, attending any sporting event, traveling, and spending time with his friends, family, and his dog Major.
Corinne Espinosa, DO
Core Faculty
Dr. Corinne Espinosa received her medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine after a career in applied behavior analysis, focusing on the development of behavior modification treatment programs. She completed her Emergency Medicine training at Morristown Medical Center, where she was named Chief Resident, and then stayed on board for a fellowship in EMS. Her interests include medical education, pre-hospital education, and palliative care. When she isn’t working in the ER, she enjoys running, traveling the world with her husband and kidlets, Aurora and Isla, and hanging out with their little critters, Dillon the dog and Olive the pig.
Yonathan Estrella, MD
Core Faculty, Ultrasound Faculty
Dr. Estrella was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and grew up in New Jersey. He received his B.A. from Cornell University and his medical degree from NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at NY-Presbyterian Brooklyn, where he found his passion for ultrasound and its applications. He became involved in research early, and was given the opportunity to present his work at NYACEP. Dr. Estrella stayed at NY-Presbyterian Brooklyn for a Clinical Ultrasound Fellowship which fostered his interest in education. In his free time, he enjoys cooking and exercising.
Emerson Franke, MD
Assistant Director of Simulation
Dr. Franke is originally from Connecticut graduating from Quinnipiac University before becoming a proud alumni of Ross University School of Medicine. He completed residency at Aventura Hospital and Medical Center where he was part of their second ever graduating class and a chief resident. He recently completed an EMS, Disaster, and Tactical Medicine fellowship at Newark Beth Israel in Newark, NJ. He has traveled throughout the country and slowly trying to travel throughout the world. He has a passion for all parts of emergency medicine, including healthy policy, alternative payment models, disaster management and mass casualty preparedness , community paramedicine, resident education, mentorship and palliative care. An active member of ACEP, AAEM, NAEMSP serving on multiple committees to improve health care in any facet we can.
Jeffrey Greco, MD

Ultrasound Fellowship Director
Dr. Greco was born and raised on Long Island. He studied at Bucknell University in Pennsylvania before attending medical school at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn. Dr. Greco then returned to Long Island and the same hospital he was born in, Northwell - Northshore University Hospital, to begin his emergency medicine residency. He stayed at Northshore for an additional year to complete an emergency medicine ultrasound fellowship. After fellowship, Dr. Greco became clinical and academic core faculty at NY-Presbyterian Queens, ultimately taking over that department's emergency ultrasound division and fellowship. He achieved ABEM's Focused Practice Designation in Advanced Emergency Ultrasonography in 2022. Dr. Greco has a strong interest in point-of-care ultrasound and medical education. When outside the hospital his interests include ice hockey, attending live concerts and sporting events, and most importantly spending time with family.
Joslyn F. Joseph, DO

Dr. Joseph graduated Cum Laude from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harlem, NY where she received the Platinum TOUCH Award for Community Service. She is ABEM dual-board certified in Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medical Services. She completed her Emergency Medicine training at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ and went on to complete EMS and Disaster Medicine Fellowship at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, NJ. She is the Founder and President of the New Jersey Chapter of the National Association of EMS Physicians and has served as Clerkship Director of the New Jersey EMS Fellowship. Her interests include education, pre-hospital research, and critical care resuscitation.
Joel Kravitz, MD
Associate Program Director
Dr. Kravitz graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada and completed a five-year EM residency at McGill as well, where he served as chief resident. He is board certified in emergency medicine in both the US and Canada. Over his 25-year career, he has spent most of it in academic and administrative roles and brings extensive experience from both the academic and community sides of medical practice. He has previously served as the associate program director at Albert Einstein in Philadelphia and has served as Assistant Director of Emergency medicine at Capital Health before ultimately returning to his first love of education. He has had several grants that have resulted in publications on such topics as diabetic ketoacidosis and asthma management and has presented his research locally, nationally and internationally. He has written multiple book chapters over the past two decades in previously editions of Tintinalli, Rosen, as well as other EM texts. He is passionate about teaching the day-to-day clinical expertise needed to make decisions in the ED. His research interests include ED decision making and resident education and recruitment. He currently resides in New Jersey with his family and, on those rare time when he is not working, enjoys varied interests that include cycling, woodworking, guitar and travel.
Gregory Neyman, MD
Research Director, Core Faculty
Dr. Neyman graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University / Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, VA and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine in St John's Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, MI. He completed a fellowship in Research in Christiana Care Hospital in Newark, DE. He was Research Director and Core Faculty at St Michael's Hospital in Newark, NJ, and has also worked in the New Jersey community.
Andrew C. Parrish, MD
EMS Director, Core Faculty
Dr. Parrish is board certified in both Emergency Medicine and EMS & Disaster Medicine. He is originally from Orlando, Florida and graduated from the University of Central Florida while working on a 911 ALS unit during college. After completing medical school at St. George's University, he completed residency at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, NJ and a fellowship in EMS, Disaster and Tactical medicine at Rutgers/RWJBH Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, NJ. He currently is EMS Medical Director of Community Medical Center and a core member of the NJ state-wide EMS Physician response program with the MD1 Program and a Tactical Physician with the NJ State Police T.E.A.M.S. (SWAT) unit as well as various other federal response teams. He loves actively making a difference on the front lines of medicine.
Mark Ramzy, DO

Dr. Mark Ramzy is an emergency medicine physician and intensivist, with over 18 years of EMS experience. He practices both critical care and emergency medicine. Dr. Ramzy began his Emergency Medicine Residency at Hahnemann Hospital / Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA, he, and then relocated to Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York to finish his residency training. Afterwards, Dr. Ramzy completed two simultaneous fellowships in critical care medicine and point-of-care ultrasonography at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He is currently an author and regular contributor for REBEL EM, critical care content editor for emDOCs and author for the EP Monthly newsletter. Dr. Ramzy is passionate about medical education through presentation redesign, social media and utilizes his graphic design skills to convey lessons and knowledge through medical infographics.
Joseph Roarty, MD
Medical Director
Dr. Roarty received his Medical Degree from New York Medical College in 2005. He completed residency at San Antonio Health Education Consortium in San Antonio, Texas. He is Board Certified through the American Board of Emergency Medicine. After completing residency he fulfilled his active duty service obligation serving as a Brigade Surgeon in Fort Stewart, GA. He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and New Dawn from 2010-2011 earning a Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service during his deployment. He served as chief of the department of emergency medicine at Winn Army Community Hospital before finishing his military career in 2012. He practiced Emergency Medicine in the Savannah, GA area for six years before returning home to NJ in 2018. He currently holds staff appointments in the departments of Emergency Medicine at Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ as well as Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ. Dr. Roarty enjoys spending time with his wife and four children.
Mary Rometti, DO

Dr. Rometti graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, Kansas. She completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) in New Brunswick, NJ where she was also Chief Resident. After residency, she completed an Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Fellowship at Rutgers-RWJMS. Dr. Rometti’s medical interests include ultrasound and medical education. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, hiking, and traveling
