Located in Belleville, NJ, Clara Maass Medical Center is a 472-bed hospital that offers a complete continuum of care to residents of northern New Jersey. Designated by the New Jersey Department of Health as a Primary Stroke Center, the Medical Center has earned national recognition in patient safety and quality from Healthgrades and The Leapfrog Group. The Medical Center leads the state in performing advanced treatment in ophthalmology, has earned certifications in Disease-Specific Care from The Joint Commission in Acute Coronary Syndrome, Congestive Heart Failure, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Elective Joint Hip Replacement, Elective Joint Knee Replacement, Advanced Certification in Palliative Care, and Primary Stroke, and is designated as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Aetna Institute and Clinical Sciences Institute of Optum. In partnership with Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey — the state’s only NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, Clara Maass Medical Center offers a world-class team of researchers and specialists to fight most types of cancer, providing close-to-home access to the latest treatment and clinical trials. Committed to the health and wellness of its community, the Center of Excellence for Latino Health at Clara Maass Medical Center was established to address the social determinants of health within the local Hispanic community.

The Pharmacy Residency Program at Clara Maass Medical Center provides an environment designed to produce competent and compassionate health systems pharmacists. The program provides residents with a variety of opportunities to develop their clinical, communication and leadership skills all while providing superior care to patients.

Post-Graduate Year I (PGY-1) Program

PGY1 residency programs build upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives. Residents who successfully complete PGY1 residency programs will be skilled in diverse patient care, practice management, leadership, and education, and be prepared to provide patient care, seek board certification in pharmacotherapy (i.e., BCPS), and pursue advanced education and training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies.
