Description:

Changing the Script Presentation - Brian Preiser, MA, & Sarah Comey - Training Institute
America’s biggest drug problem is not on the streets — it’s in our own medicine cabinets. Nearly 80% of Americans who use heroin reported misusing prescription opioids first. Nearly half of students in 7th through 12th grades have been prescribed a controlled substance. This presentation discusses the risks of opioid prescription and prescription misuse and the importance of talking to your doctor about alternatives.

Peer Recovery Program - Amanda Kube & Richard Hoffman - PRP at MMC/MMCSC
The RWJBarnabas Health Peer Recovery Program (PRP) provides recovery support services for all individuals who present with substance use disorder in hospitals, ambulatory care settings and in the community.

Naloxone Training - Amanda Santini, MPH, BSN, RN - Ocean County Health Department
On average, Ocean County experiences five fatal and non-fatal overdoses per day. These overdoses are not limited to a home or residence and often occur in public parking lots, business restrooms and community spaces such as parks. Be prepared to help someone experiencing an overdose by being trained to administer naloxone.

Free naloxone kits will be provided to participants. Light refreshments will be provided.
