Who can attend? Athletic Trainers who work or live in Somerset, Hunterdon, or Middlesex County
In this presentation Dr Boretz will review injuries that can occur to the hand, wrist and elbow during athletic endeavors. Anatomy, mechanism of injury and treatment will be discussed as well as return to play.
Core Objectives:
1. Review mechanism of injury for common traumatic conditions of the hand, wrist and elbow
2. Review pertinent anatomy.
3. Review treatment, non-surgical and surgical.
4. Discuss decisions regarding return to play
Bio: Robert S. Boretz, MD, specializes in treating disorders of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder in all age groups. He is board-certified in hand surgery. Dr. Boretz’s treats common as well as complex disorders of the upper extremity. Before he joined Summit Health, Dr. Boretz practiced privately with the Center for Orthopedic Care in Bridgewater, New Jersey. He was the Chief of Orthopedics at Robert Wood Johnson Somerset for 6 years. Dr. Boretz is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons as well as a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Medical Society. He has been featured in Castle Connolly Top Doctors listings. Dr. Boretz was a faculty member of the exam committee for the American Society For Surgery of the Hand. When he is not working with his patients, Dr. Boretz enjoys spending time with his family, snowboarding, mountain biking, and golfing
