    Dr. Htwe graduated from the University of Medicine, Mandalay in Myanmar. After graduation, Dr. Htwe served as family physician in her hometown in Myanmar for a few years before she relocated to the United States and joined the International Early Lung Cancer Action Program (I-ELCAP) as a research fellow. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency Program at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in New York and her T32 Pulmonary and Critical Care Research Fellowship at University of Illinois at Chicago. She also completed her Interventional Pulmonary Fellowship Program at NYU Langone. Upon graduation, she worked as assistant professor and associate program director of the Interventional Pulmonary Fellow Program at Penn State Health Medical Center at Hershey, PA, for two years.

    Dr. Htwe joined RWJBarnabas Health in 2024 as Director of the Interventional Pulmonary Program and Lung Nodule Program. Her passion includes collaborative patient care and ensuring excellent clinical quality and compassionate caregiving.

It is my role and responsibility to provide support and guidance using a multidisciplinary approach that incorporates evidence-based medicine and expertise for patients and their families to make an informed, individualized, and efficient decision.

    Clinical Interests

    Dr. Htwe’ s clinical area of interests is to improve early detection and diagnosis of lung cancer, management of thoracic malignancies, airway disorders, and pleural diseases using minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic techniques. Dr. Htwe had advanced interventional pulmonology training and expertized in the following procedures: Rigid bronchoscopy, Robotic assisted bronchoscopy, Airway stenting (silicone, hybrid, metallic), Ablation techniques (Argon plasma coagulation, lasers, cryotherapy, photodynamic therapy, electrocautery, brachytherapy, cryobiopsy), Airway foreign body removal, Endobronchial ultrasound (convex and radial), Endobronchial valve placement, Whole lung lavage, Pleural procedures (medical pleuroscopy, pleurodesis, tunneled pleural catheters, pleural biopsy, lung and pleural ultrasound, thoracentesis, chest tube placement), Percutaneous tracheostomy placement
