Wei Liu, MD, was originally born and raised in China before immigrating to the U.S at the age of 18. She received her B.S. in neuroscience and behavioral biology from Emory University, and M.D. from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. She completed her general surgery residency at the MedStar Health Baltimore program, and colon and rectal surgery fellowship at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center.

Conditions:
Benign and malignant abdominal diseases including diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease, colonic volvulus, parastomal hernia, genetic polyposis syndromes, colon cancer and rectal cancer.
Benign and malignant anorectal diseases including hemorrhoids, anal fistulas, anal fissures, anal stenosis, pilonidal disease, pelvic floor disorders including rectal prolapse, fecal incontinence and obstructive defecation, anal warts, anal dysplasia and anal cancer.
Procedures:
Minimally invasive (laparoscopic and da Vinci robotic) and open surgery involving the small bowel, colon and rectum. Specifically colectomy, proctectomy, ostomy creation, pouch surgery, parastomal hernia repair and ventral mesh rectopexy.
Robotic transanal minimally invasive surgery.
Colonoscopy with advanced endoscopic techniques including polypectomy & endoscopic mucosal resection.
Anorectal surgery including rubber band ligation, hemorrhoidectomy, transanal hemorrhoidal dearterialization (THD), stapled hemorrhoidopexy (PPH), seton placement, fistulotomy, LIFT, advancement flap, fissurectomy, botox injection, sphincterotomy, Delorme/Altemeier procedure, sacral nerve stimulator implant, sphincteroplasty, anoplasty, high resolution anoscopy (HRA) & pilonidal cystectomy with flap reconstruction.
Robotic surgery, colorectal cancer, pelvic floor disorder, benign anorectal disease, and resident education.
