Dr. Ovnanian received his medical training at Latvian Medical Academy, graduating in 1996 with an M.D. degree.
He completed Internal Medicine residency at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn.
After working as a hospitalist at Abington Hospital in Pennsylvania for 1 year, he had moved to Pulmonary/Critical Care/Sleep fellowship at UMDNJ ( now Rutgers New Jersey Medical School ), Hackensack University Medical Center and East Orange VA in New Jersey.
After fellowship, Dr. Ovnanian joined Pulmonary/Critical Care/Sleep Medicine group practice at Hackensack UMC . He is actively involved in residents', fellows' and medical students' education and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine , Saint George's University School of Medicine.
Dr. Ovnanian joined SBMC as a staff Intensivist and Pulmonary/Sleep medicine specialist in June 2014.
