Steven Shapiro, MD

Dr. Steven Shapiro serves as Medical Director for Stroke Services at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (CBMC) and is a member of the RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group. He oversees the inpatient and outpatient stroke programs, as well as provides oversight over neuro interventional services at CBMC.
Prior to joining CBMC, Dr. Shapiro served as an assistant professor of Neurology and associate clerkship director for Neurology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital. He has a deep interest in the entire spectrum of inpatient neurological care, especially in optimizing healthcare delivery.
Originally from Livingston, NJ, and a graduate of Livingston High School, Dr. Shapiro is excited to be returning to Livingston to deliver cutting-edge neurological care to the community. He earned his undergraduate degree at Johns Hopkins University, his medical degree from New York Medical College, and completed a neurology residency at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He further specialized in fellowship training in Vascular Neurology at Mount Sinai Hospital and Interventional Neurology at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY.
