    Sirish Dharmapuri, MD, board certified in medical oncology and internal medicine, serves as a medical oncologist at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center. Specializing in treating solid tumors, he is actively involved in therapeutic clinical trials and pioneering treatments for metastatic gastrointestinal cancers. Additionally, he has expertise in hepatic arterial infusion therapy, an advanced method for treating liver metastasis.

    Dr. Dharmapuri completed his fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Mount Sinai, and his Internal Medicine residency at the Scranton Temple Residency Program (now known as The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education)/Veteran Affairs Medical Center. He obtained his medical degree from Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences in Bangalore, India, and spent two years practicing as a primary care physician in India before starting his residency.

    After completing his fellowship, Dr. Dharmapuri served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine/Gastrointestinal Oncology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, as well as Assistant Director of Cancer Clinical Trials at Mount Sinai West from 2022 to 2024.

    Dr. Dharmapuri's research interests focus on developing novel biomarkers and therapeutics for gastrointestinal malignancies, as well as innovative immunotherapeutic strategies to combat cancer. He has played a key role as a principal investigator or sub-investigator in over 20 clinical trials of new therapies for gastrointestinal cancers. He has also created real-world data databases to identify clinicopathological predictors of patient outcomes with new therapies, such as immune checkpoint inhibitors in hepatocellular carcinoma and rectal cancer.

    Dr. Dharmapuri has published over 40 articles in prestigious peer- reviewed journals, including the Journal of Hepatology, Cancer Medicine, Cancers, and Liver Cancer.

    My philosophy is to prioritize patient-centered care, ensuring empathy, holistic treatment, and evidence-based personalized plans. I emphasize collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and involve patients and families in decision-making. Preventive measures and lifestyle guidance are key, along with managing symptoms and integrating palliative care to maintain quality of life.
