A 2015 graduate of SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, Dr. East completed residency training in internal medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where she served as chief resident from 2018-2019. She pursued fellowship training in cardiovascular disease at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine. Her interest in echocardiography, multi-modality imaging and amyloidosis led her to pursue an Advanced Cardiac Imaging Fellowship at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, which she completed in June. She subsequently joined the medical school’s Division of Cardiovascular Disease and Hypertension, effective July 1.
Dr. East has been regarded by many, including faculty, medical residents and fellows, as a passionate and intentional individual with a love for educating, and her receipt of the RWJMS Excellence in Teaching Award in 2017 is evidence of her admirable teaching ability. She has supervised and educated medical residents, fellows and medical students through weekly echocardiography lectures and clinic rotations. She is also known for her professionalism, good bedside manners, and ability to lead others and implement feedback, as well as for her good-natured personality. Her positive and patient-centric approach to clinical care and quality patient outcomes continue to received high commendation. Dr. East has made important contributions to the field of cardiology though publications, abstracts, poster and regional presentations. In July 2022, she wrote a textbook chapter in the book Clinical Echocardiology Review: A Self-Assessment Tool, 3rd Ed., which includes more than 1,100 self-assessment questions to keep cardiologists who will appear at national boards up-to-date with advancements in the field.
