Sarah C. Hessler, M.D. is a Board Certified Reproductive Endocrinologist and Infertility specialist at the Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Science (IRMS) at Cooperman Barnabas in Livingston, NJ. She is an attending physician in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at both Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center and Monmouth Medical Center, and is Board Certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Dr. Hessler received her undergraduate degree in Biology from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ, and her medical degree from UMDNJ – New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at UMDNJ – New Jersey Medical School where she also served as Administrative Chief Resident in her final year. She completed her fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School. “I was always drawn to reproductive endocrinology because it allows me to focus on improving women’s health.

IRMS is also at the cutting edge of the most advanced technologies available and thus all of my patients have access to the best care possible.” Her special interests within the field include: PCOS – including lifestyle education with diet and exercise, recurrent pregnancy loss, reproductive surgery, and oocyte cryopreservation for both onco-fertility and fertility preservation. Dr. Hessler has received many honors throughout her academic career including membership in Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical school honor society. She is also a member of The Gold Humanism in Medicine Honor Society awarded by her peers for showing exemplary compassion to her patients and coworkers. She has actively contributed to the scientific literature in the field of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Her research includes “Relaxin’s effects on fibulin-5 expression” and “Vascular calcification of myometrial arteries” and the association with aging.
Dr. Hessler has a comprehensive surgical training and is the Director of Reproductive Surgery at IRMS. She specializes in minimally invasive surgery for the treatment of uterine anomalies, endometrial polyps and fibroids, tubal disease and endometriosis. Dr. Hessler continues to teach residents and medical students at St. Barnabas Medical Center and Monmouth Medical Center. She was awarded the APGO Excellence in Teaching Award in 2016 from the residents at Monmouth Medical Center. Dr. Hessler’s primary location is in Clark, NJ where her practice encompasses reproductive surgery, treatment of gynecologic endocrine disorders and assisted reproductive technologies including in vitro fertilization and oocyte cryopreservation. In her free time, Dr. Hessler volunteers as a coach in her home town in multiple sports including softball, soccer and basketball. She enjoys both flower and vegetable gardening and always enjoys reading.
