Affiliations Find Me On http://essexeye.com/ Bio Dr. Wertheimer received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. After medical school, Dr. Wertheimer completed a three year residency in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center, the University Hospital of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He became board certified in Internal Medicine and a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and earned the distinction of scoring in the top decile of physicians nationwide. Dr. Wertheimer completed three additional years of advanced training specializing in medicine and surgery of the eyes at Nassau County Medical Center in New York where he also served as chief resident. Upon completion, he earned the distinction of becoming double board certified and a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Wertheimer has been in private practice since that time specializing in medicine and surgery of the eyes.
He has performed thousands of surgical and laser procedures including no-stitch cataract surgery and LASIK. He has extensive training and a special interest in cataracts, diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. He also spent several years at a regional trauma center and has extensive experience is treating traumatic eye injuries. Dr. Wertheimer is a diplomate of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has been listed as a top doctor in regional publications, and has received a patient’s choice award for outstanding patient feedback.
