Rajesh V. Iyer, MD
- Radiation Oncology
Dr. Rajesh Iyer, Chairman of Radiation Oncology at Community Medical Center, joined the medical staff of Community in 2001. As a board-certified Radiation Oncologist, he brings expertise and compassionate cancer treatment care to all of his patients.
Dr. Iyer has published peer-reviewed articles on prostate and breast cancer, and currently edits a chapter on esophageal cancer. He has presented these findings at national conferences including the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO). He also has continued his research interests at Community by participating in Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) studies, and he wrote the first stereotactic body radiosurgery research protocol at Community.
Dr. Iyer graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He received an Honors distinction by writing a honors thesis on the use of parallel processing computer algorithms to model transportation systems. Dr. Iyer then received his medical degree from Temple University Medical School in Philadelphia, PA.
After completing an internship year in Internal Medicine at Abington Memorial Hospital in Philadelphia, Dr. Iyer performed his residency at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. The first dedicated oncology cancer center in the United Stated, Fox Chase provided him particular expertise and experience in treating prostate and breast cancers, as well as the full range of cancer conditions. It was there that he developed his expertise in using IMRT/IGRT, as well as Stereotactic Radiosurgery. Dr. Iyer was also the first resident at Fox Chase to work on the first dedicated MRI-simulator for radiation therapy in the United States.
Dr. Iyer is currently the Chairman of Radiation Oncology at Community Medical Center, as well as chairing the Cancer Committee. In that role he helps guide the entire cancer program at Community, which recently received accreditation with commendation from the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiation Oncology.

Breast, Lung, GI, and Prostate Cancer, using radiation therapy technologies including Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Cyberknife Radiosurgery, and Brachytherapy.
