Peter Tumminelli, MD

Peter Tumminelli, MD, CAQSM, FAAPMR, is a Primary Care Sports Medicine physician with a background in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He currently serves as a team physician for NWSL Gotham FC, USA Ice Hockey National Team Development Program, Seton Hall University, New Jersey City University; and provides care for local high schools in north New Jersey.
Dr. Tumminelli completed his fellowship training in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Atlantic Sports Health - Morristown Medical Center where he served as a fellow team physician of the NFL New York Jets and Seton Hall Athletics. He received his residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School – Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation where he received the Resident as Teacher Award. Prior to graduating from New York Medical College, he received a Master of Biomedical Sciences from Robert Wood Johnson University of Medicine and Dentistry and a Bachelor of Science from in Neurobiology and Physiology from Stony Brook University. He has additional certifications as an ImPACT credentialed concussion consultant.
Dr. Tumminelli has a commitment to academics in sports medicine and rehabilitation. He has been invited to lecture at Kessler Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and New Metro Sports Medicine Annual Board Review Courses. He’s served as an ITE board question writer and holds positions in the fellowship and ultrasound committees for the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. Dr. Tumminelli’s scope of care includes acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, non- operative sports medicine injuries, concussion care, and orthobiologic and ESWT therapies.
